In a world where the visual online presence is a must and memories are remembered through shared photos, I decided to keep it a little more vintage.
I am a shutterbug and I love keeping photo albums. Sure, many of them are shared on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter but the ones that really matter to me are the ones I decide to put in a photo album so that 10,20 years from now on I can look at and just smile. I started printing out photos back in the 2000s when I was still a kid and I remember spending most of my pocket money on them.
But now, I don’t have to worry anymore about that.
I have recently discovered an app called FreePrints that not only prints out my photos, but also delivers them to my door.
And you know what’s the great thing about them? They are free!
So, what do I really get for free?
Every month I get to choose up to 45 6X4 photo prints, so that’s 500 photos per year! That’s about two full photos albums! The photos are printed on glossy photo paper and they come in high quality.
To be honest, I wasn’t expecting them to be so professionally looking and I was quite sceptic in the beginning. Free photos? There must be a trick or something. So I decided to select a regular photo and an edited one as well, just for the sake of comparison. But when I received them, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were true to my screen image.
However, there are a few things you do have to pay for.
If you decide you need more than 45 photos a month or different sizes – the app let’s you choose what size and tells you how much it costs. The postage and packing are not free, but they’re as little as £1.49 and never more than £3.99. When I first ordered my photo I received a discount and I only paid £0.50 for the postage! The photos usually arrive within 3-5 working days and they come nicely packed in two envelopes so that they don’t get damaged. The app allows you to pay through PayPal, which I find hassle free and very easy to use.
